Improve your speech and voice
Speech and voice problems can be disruptive, frustrating, and even detrimental to your livelihood. It can indeed be empowering to improve your skills, whether you have difficulty performing, talking at work, or communicating in your daily life. Below are some of the many issues that I address:
- Hoarse, strained, or breathy voice
- Voice fatigue from persistent talking or performing
- Vocal limitations during singing or acting
- Difficulty talking due to illness or injury (vocal rehab)
- Gender mismatch (voice feminization / voice masculinization)
- Distracting accent in Standard American English
- Stuttering and cluttering
- Difficulty speaking in public
- Vocal weakness from aging
I provide a perceptual-acoustic speech-voice-language evaluation, which serves as a supplement to a medical evaluation by an otolaryngologist. I carefully consider your history and goals, and determine your current skills with state-of-the-art equipment. With that information, I make a prognosis and help you make a plan for improvement. I also perform videostroboscopy when appropriate, which allows me to visualize your vocal folds to rule out any anatomic or biomechanical abnormalities. Treatment involves speech therapy, vocal rehabilitation, or speech/voice training exercises, depending on your problem. You would be expected to attend regular sessions as well as do home-based daily exercises. I provide individual and group sessions, workshops, and Skype sessions.
